Ever year, thousands of people flock to the Capitol to witness the peak bloom of DC's cherry blossoms. These iconic trees were gifted to the United States by Japan in 1912 as a show of friendship. Now, over 100 years later, that friendship is still celebrated and witnessed by people from all over the world.
The Japanese embassy launched a campaign around the Spring of 2019 to raise awareness about the history of the cherry blossom trees in the capitol. The colorful bus wraps and accompanying out of home ads were designed in partnership with the Embassy of Japans creative team. They provided the initial idea and copy, while I art directed the physical formats and produced the mechanical files.
